Visit
Visitor Visa
A visitor visa is a non-immigrant visa for candidates who want to visit Canada temporarily for business, tourism, or both. Candidates must meet the immigration requirements even if visiting for a few days or staying several months.
What is a Visitor Visa?
Visitors who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents and wish to visit Canada can apply for a visitor visa. If you have never travelled to Canada before and are planning to visit for business, tourism, education or work, you are going to need a visitor visa. The application process, timeline and requirements vary based on your purpose of visit.
Business Visitor Visa
A business visitor visa is a temporary visa for people who intend to travel to Canada to invest, grow a business, or advance business relationships. To be eligible you must not stay more than six months, must not intend to enter the Canadian labour market, your main source of income and business must be outside Canada, and you must have supporting documents for the application.
Tourism Visitor Visa
This stream is for visitors planning a vacation who want to travel to Canada for tourism. The Canadian visitor visa is granted for a period of six months and can be single-entry or multiple-entry. Applicants cannot work on a visit visa, but you can travel across Canada for tourism and leisure.
Study or Work with a Visitor Visa
Having a visitor visa alone will not allow you to study or work in Canada. To enter as a student you need a valid study permit along with a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV); to enter as a worker you need a work permit. However, if you have already applied for a study or work permit, you do not have to apply separately for the TRV.
General Eligibility Requirements
- Candidates must not plan or undertake a job.
- Candidates must have no criminal record and must comply with the laws of the country.
- Candidates staying with relatives or friends must provide invitation letters from their sponsor.
- Candidates from certain countries may need a temporary resident visa.
