New Pathways to PR
IRCC announced new pathways to permanent residence for essential workers and international students who are contributing to Canada's economy. These streams make it easier for essential workers and recent graduates to become permanent residents.
About the New Pathways
IRCC accepts applications from eligible candidates across three categories: temporary workers in healthcare, temporary workers in other essential occupations, and international students who have recently graduated from Canadian institutions, plus an unlimited number of applications from French-speaking candidates.
Programs launched
- PR pathway for international student graduates
- PR pathway for essential workers in healthcare
- PR pathway for essential workers in other occupations
- French-speaking equivalents of the above three pathways
General Eligibility
- At least one year of eligible work experience in Canada (for essential workers).
- Currently employed in Canada.
- Meet the minimum language requirements (CLB 4 for workers, CLB 5 for students, in the last two years).
- Do not intend to reside in the province of Quebec.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates submit applications online via IRCC's portal: collect your documents (application forms, civil status documents, proof of education and language, work reference letters, passport, police clearances, medical results and a digital photo), upload the required forms, pay the fees, and submit the application.
