An open work permit is a type of work permit that grants you the legal status to work in Canada. You don't need a job offer to come to Canada and you don't need to meet some of the conditions that individuals with other work permits do.

Eligibility Requirements
You may be eligible for an Open Work Permit if:
- You have applied for permanent residency in Canada.
- You are a dependent family member of someone who has applied for permanent residence in Canada.
- You are a spouse/common-law partner of a skilled worker working in Canada.
- You are a spouse/common-law partner of an international student with a valid study permit.
- You are a graduate student eligible for a Post-Graduate Work Permit.
- You are a refugee, a young applicant in a special program, or hold a temporary resident permit.
Fees, Processing Time and How to Apply
- Open Work Permit fees: $155 Open Work Permit Holder fee plus $100 Work Permit application fee.
- Processing time can be between 2 and 22 weeks depending on where you apply from.
